Human Trafficking Florida CS/HB633 Update

Trying to keep the Chapter in the “know”. Florida House of Representatives CS/HB633 Bill An act relating to human trafficking; which will create 480.0535 F.S, has been redrafted since last issued. This bill has been shortened dramatically in size and will provide law enforcement the means to more effectively, investigate, and arrest persons engaging in human trafficking as defined in State Statutes.

Law if enacted would now require a massage therapist to carry a personal copy of their massage therapist license while preforming or promoting massage therapy. Along with some other form of legal identification such as a driver license or identification card.

This is a huge step away from the last draft of this bill which would actually put much more burden on those of us that are trying our best to be legal, and ethical within our profession. This new draft would also free the hands of law enforcement in going after those that are breaking the law. This version of the Bill our FSMTA attorney wrote, our FSMTA lobbiests are sponsoring and our FSMTA legislative Chair is in favor of promoting this bill to our florida legislature.

Here is a copy of the originally proposed which several people did not like the wording of the bill  SB_966_Human_Trafficking
