Join Debbie Roberts for a high-energy presentation on her signature Assessment, Treatment & Muscle Activation (ATM) Technique™ that puts the ―fun‖ in correcting shoulder dysfunction. Debbie, a personal trainer and group exercise leader for over 27 years, created the ATM Technique™ to help therapists hone their skills in assessment, multiple treatment modalities, and – the missing finish piece – muscle activation.
In Debbie’s expert hands, you’ll learn how to assess repetitive motion injuries resulting from participation in sports such as baseball, golf and tennis, as well as occupation activities common among house painters, office workers, hair dressers, nail technicians and even mothers. In her workshops, Debbie covers a wide range of injuries including shoulder impingement, bursitis, shoulder tendonitis, and supraspinatus partial tears. So you’ll walk away from this presentation with immediate assessment tools you can add to your practice the very next day!
Debbie’s professional athletic background combined with her decades of manual therapy training makes
her uniquely qualified to present this innovative material. Debbie’s own athletic endeavors include
swimming in the Junior Olympics program, winning a bodybuilding contest and biking 270 miles from
Boston to New York, all of which instilled in her a passion for dealing with a sports clientele and solving
the problems that plague professional and amateur athletes alike.
Debbie has also been blessed to have worked with two pioneers in Osteopathic medicine, Drs. Eileen
and Joe DiGiovanna. Dr. Eileen L. DiGiovanna is the author of An Osteopathic Approach to Diagnosis
and Treatment, and Debbie worked closely with both doctors to gather information on muscle energy,
which eventually contributed to her own signature system, the ATM Technique™.
As a multi-year presenter for the FSMTA, Debbie spoke in 2004 on Shoulder Dysfunction and in 2008
on The Anatomy of An Injury. She’s an international author and presenter on Fibromyalgia. Her book
So You Want to Own a Spa, What Are You Thinking? is a culmination of her expertise and (sometimes
harrowing) experiences as a spa owner. She still presently owns a one-of-a-kind day spa in Stuart, Florida
that combines the elements of massage, fitness, and esthetics for her clients. Debbie’s motto: ― If you don’t assess you simply guess.”
